We have conquered the stars, split the atoms, and reprogrammed the DNA of living organisms. We have cars that can drive themselves down the road, and AIs that can predict the earliest cancers. How is it that technology has nothing better to offer someone living with a mobility impairment than a pair of canes, a walker, or a wheelchair?This is the question I have been asking myself since first hearing neurologists and physical therapists tell me, “Your daughter has Cerebral Palsy and may never live an independent life”.
